1) On grid solar power plant is known as grid export solar plant, it exports the electric units generated throughout day.
It is not able to give you a backup as there are no battery bank is conected to the power plant.

2) Off Grid Solar System

2) Off grid solar plant is able to supply backup as there are battery bank are connected to the inverter. We can run almost all equipments onto off grid solar. It is bit costlier than on grid solar plant
